Don’t leave Mallorca without a visit to the delightful house,rural museum and farm at La Granja. La Granja is a beautiful 10th century mansion, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The well-preserved estate has kept its customs intact and is still a working farm. Your ticket entitles you to enter La Granja and explore the premises at your convenience.

A visit to La Granja will take you at least half a day. The mansion is now a huge museum that not only offers static displays of Mallorca’s history but practical demonstrations of age-old crafts and traditions.

There is a set route around the mansion, simply follow the arrows. Each step will take you to a different room, set out as it was centuries ago. There are thousands of exhibits from old farm implements to furniture, toys and much more. You can watch a blacksmith at work, visit the turner’s workshop or see demonstrations of candle making, pottery, handloom weaving, needlepoint lace and Spanish grass work. There is also a resident cobbler and a carpenter.

La Granja has a restaurant, cafe and good, clean toilets. The restaurant’s menu consists of a selection of typical Mallorcan food as well as a variety of international dishes. You can also participate in the folk dancing which was formerly part of the village festivities organized by the owners of the estate after a good harvest.

You will see farm animals, such as pheasants, ducks and geese, while the surrounding forests contain birds and animals like African partridges and deer.
